I bought my first pair of moccasins from local company Minnetonka over a decade ago and I still love them! We recently brought new pairs on our fall adventures and now love this brand even more! Minnetonka was founded in 1946 and is a heritage brand owned by the fourth generation. They’re also committed to honoring and investing in the Native American community. Highly recommend for both Home & Away adventures.

Wild State Cider

Wild State Cider

One of my favorite cideries in Minnesota is Wild State in Duluth. While we can’t get there as often as I’d like, they offer cider and merch online to be shipped right to you! Plus, as members of 1% For The Planet, they’ve committed 1% of sales to environmental nonprofits dedicated to protecting and improving outdoor access.

We’ve taken a lot of local getaways especially over the past 1.5 years and these are some of my favorite spots to book a trip for someone’s holiday gift!

Hotel Emery (Minneapolis)

Super beautiful modern decor, located in the heart of Minneapolis so you’ll be well located for exploring the city.

Grand View Lodge (Nisswa)

An absolute gem getaway, especially in the Winter. Read all about our magical stay here.

Green Gate Guesthouses (Biwabik)

Green Gate Guesthouse

One of the best getaways we’ve had is to Green Gate Guesthouses and the surrounding Iron Range area. Many of the Green Gate properties are beautifully restored and are stunning places to stay. We loved the contemporary condo which was right by the lake! Read here about our stay and things to do in the area.

Inn at Wawanissee Point (Baraboo WI)

One of the most amazing B&B’s we’ve had the pleasure of staying at is the Inn at Wawanissee Point. With the Best View in Wisconsin, the kindest hosts, gourmet happy hour and breakfast included and so much to do in the area, we can’t wait to come back! Read about our stay here.

Hotel Indigo (Rochester MN)

Hotel lndigo

There is a ton to do in Rochester MN and we loved our stay at the modern Hotel Indigo. With a rooftop bar and lots of spots within walking distance, it really is the best place to stay!

The Charmant Hotel (La Crosse WI)

Charmant Hotel

How would you like to stay in a charming old candy factory?! The Charmant is luxurious, well located and has the best details honoring its past throughout the hotel. Highly recommend staying here and visiting La Crosse for a fun weekend getaway.

Lora Hotel and Hotel Crosby (Stillwater, MN)

Stillwater is one of the best towns for a staycation in Minnesota and two of my favorite hotels are the Lora and Hotel Crosby. I loved our stays at both – read about them here and here!

Hotel Ivy (Minneapolis)

Hotel Ivy

One of the most upscale downtown experiences is at Hotel Ivy. From premium bedding to amenities like a gym and the popular Anda Spa, it’s the perfect place to relax with your loved one(s). Read all about our stay here.

For The Foodie who loves Cooking

Cooks of Crocus Hill

I LOVE cooking classes. I get stuck in a rut making the same meals week after week so cooking classes help me add a new meal to the rotation. Below are a couple of great spots to gift someone!

Cooks of Crocus Hill – they offer both in person and virtual classes and are a gold standard! We had a blast taking a virtual Cuban cooking class earlier this year.

Giulia is a beautiful restaurant that makes you feel like you’re on vacation! They also have fun classes like charcuterie board design so check to see what’s coming up!

For The Floral Lover

I love taking floral making classes because I always learn something new about designing arrangements! Below are two of the best spots in the Twin Cities.

Ergo Floral Workshops – I love the aesthetic of the florals at Ergo and need to get there for a workshop soon.

Sip ‘n Bloom – David, the founder, is incredibly passionate and leads the most fun floral workshops! Highly recommend taking a class with him! During December events, they’ll be making wreaths and porch pots!

For Someone Who Loves Dogs + Adventure

Dogsledding Minnesota

We’ve gone dogsledding in Colorado so I was thrilled to learn about options closer to home! Check out these three spots:

For the Coffee + Tea Lover

We love trying local coffee and tea shops and a gift card to a local place would be a great present! Below are two great companies that I highly recommend!

NE Tea House Tasting

My favorite spot to enjoy a variety of tea in Minnesota is at Northeast Teahouse. It’s one of only a couple spots with its own matcha mill in the US so you can enjoy the freshest matcha! The teahouse is an incredibly peaceful experience too. This holiday season, they’ve put together an amazing 5 Sensory gift box including tea, incense, a tapestry, massage oil, and a singing bowl.

Use code PLANET10 for 10% off your purchases (online) and mention it in store this holiday season!

Kinder Coffee Subscription Service

Kinder Coffee Lab is a wonderful new local coffee service that delivers the freshest beans to your door. Based in St. Cloud, all of the flavors are named after spots in St. Cloud! They’ll also be opening a physical coffee shop soon and I can’t wait to visit!

Use Code PLANET20 for 20% off your orders this holiday season!!

For the Nature Seeker

Our Minnesota State Parks pass is well used every year! If you go to state parks more than 5x per year, it’s a better value to get the pass. And what a great gift to inspire someone to enjoy the outdoors more!

State Parks Pass

For The Thrill Seeker

Helicopter Ride + Dinner at Holman’s Table

One of the COOLEST dates we’ve done in the Twin Cities is dinner at Holman’s table and a Helicopter ride right from the tarmac by its patio. It’s also an incredible deal – $200 for a package that includes a short helicopter ride for 2 people and $100 towards your dinner bill. Definitely had to include this in my Minnesota Gift Guide!

Use Code PLANETWITHSARA for free shipping on your order!

For The Adventurer + Traveler

After a decade of traveling the world, below are items I have refined my packing list for the best travel experience.

Thrifty Traveler Subscription

ThriftyTraveler Premium

Before we get to the travel items, first I’m recommending Thrifty Traveler Premium which helps you find the BEST flight deals. They are constantly monitoring airlines’ websites for the cheapest fares and then post about them first for premium members. We’ve bought quite a few flights after seeing a deal they posted. They’re based in Minnesota so their first priority is deals from MSP!

Use Code PLANET10 to save $10 off your first year of Premium membership!

Cozy Earth PJs

Cozy Earth

Cozy Earth is a bamboo-based bedding and pajama company based in Utah and their products are SO high quality. I basically live in my PJs all day long and they would be excellent for comfort when traveling too.

Use Code PLANETWITHSARA45 for a massive 45% discount (including bedding)!

Tata Harper Traveler Set

Tata Harper

Tata Harper is a Vermont based organic facial product producer and her products are incredibly high quality. I always buy the travel sizes because a) the product stays fresher and b) I can just bring my products in my carryon when I travel.

Merrell Hiking Boots

Merrell was the first brand of hiking boot I ever bought and I love them. From my waterproof Moabs to trail runners (that I use for hiking too), their products are affordable and supportive. I’ve worn mine everywhere from multi-day treks in Patagonia to 10-hour hikes in Norway and they hold up so well.

Olympus Camera

This is a great camera that’s compact and produces quality photos. We’ve used it for the last 4 years and love it (especially as we learn more about photography and see how powerful it is!).

We recently had to upgrade our GoPro for a trip to the Galapagos when our old GoPro stopped working and it was a great investment to capture so many cool underwater interactions with sea lions, sharks, penguins, etc. We did get our old GoPro to work again but are happy to have the latest generation.

Osprey Backpack

Osprey Kyte

I only travel with my Osprey backpack (as a carryon!) because I love not having to pull something on wheels. This pack also got me through our 5-day trek in Patagonia and is extremely comfortable.

Fjallraven Hiking Tights

The highest quality outdoor brand is Swedish-based Fjallraeven. I’m obsessed with anything they make and these hiking tights especially. The knee and bum reinforcements allow me to sit or kneel anywhere without scraping myself or getting wet.

Fjallraven Kanken

The iconic backpack by Fjallraven is also one of my travel must haves. It’s comfortable, holds a lot and is also a beautiful bag.

Fjallraven Sweater

This sweatshirt is my favorite and keeps me warm on our hikes!

I bought my first pair of Chacos on recommendation from an Instagram poll for a trip to the Galapagos and I’m in love with them! They’re comfortable, have great arch support and allow me to go from water to land easily. Highly recommend.

E-Bags Packing Cubes

To keep me organized when I travel, I always use my e-bags packing cubes. Ryan has a red set while mine is green so we can easily tell them apart if we ever share a suitcase.

For longer term travel or for travel with limited luggage, the Scrubba is incredible! It’s a great system to wash your clothes. We also use ours as a dry bag when paddleboarding or kayaking.

I wish you a very happy holiday season!

Hi there – Would you happen to know any local photographers who make standard wall calendars with their photos? Specifically looking to get my hands on a calendar with various twin cities area skyline shots, or something to that effect! Curious to know if you know anyone who does that. 🙂 Thanks in advance for the help!
