5 Reasons to book a Staycation at Hotel Ivy Minneapolis

Staycations have become the best way to feel a sense of adventure, recharge and unwind from daily stresses.  Although I’ve been downtown Minneapolis countless times, I recently turned it into a staycation for the first time which was the best way to start the new year. For the most classic, quintessential, luxurious stay downtown, Hotel Ivy is where you want to be.

The only Minnesota hotel to be part of The Luxury Hotel collection, Hotel Ivy certainly lives up to the name.  Read on for the Top 5 Reasons you should plan a Minneapolis Staycation at Hotel Ivy too (and a special discount code!).

Note: we were guests of Hotel Ivy and Anda Spa. As always, opinions below are my own.

#1: The incredible Night Spa Experience at Anda Spa, located right in the hotel

Anda Spa is a truly stunning space. With a focus on crystal-based wellness practices, Anda Spa has rose quartz and other crystals infused in both the décor and treatments offered.  From the changing rooms, to the pre-treatment waiting areas, to the wind-down room, every step of the process is focused on relaxation and healing energy.  Due to COVID, the spa has adjusted to ensure guest safety and some amenities are limited.  For example, the popular Quartz Spa, which features a steam and cold shower, a quartz lined sauna and large jacuzzi tub, is only open for guests partaking in the Night Spa which is the service we did.

The Night Spa

The Night Spa experience began with us selecting a beverage to enjoy in the Quartz Spa.  We chose local kombucha brand North Star to make our experience more focused on wellness.  Champagne and tea are also available.  Next, we changed into our suits and Anda Spa robes to enjoy one-hour private use of the Quartz Spa.  We cycled through using the hot and cold showers, sauna room, jacuzzi tub and – my favorite part – the heated loungers.  If only we had one of those heated loungers at home, Minnesota winter would be no problem!

We then continued on to the pre-treatment area to relax ahead of our 2-hour couples’ treatment.  Due to COVID, masks are required the entire time and we were well spaced out from any others there to enjoy services too.

After an introduction with our wonderful therapists, Natalie and Rowan, we selected scents to be used throughout the dry brushing, hot oil scalp massage, peppermint foot treatment and one-hour full body massage. To say we were relaxed at the end would be an understatement. We had completely melted into the tables. We spent a little time in the post-treatment space to complete the amazing experience.

The Night Spa Experience is not inexpensive but it is holistic, exclusive and the most rejuvenating experience we’ve had. If you’re looking for a luxurious way to treat yourself, I can’t think of anything better.  There are many other packages and treatments you can book as well for your ultimate Anda Spa & Hotel Ivy staycation experience.

#2: Luxurious, spacious and lush rooms, many with great views

The rooms at Hotel Ivy are beautiful.  We stayed in a suite which was spacious, immaculately clean and so comfortable.  Upon entering, I felt like we were walking into a home with the great reception space and walk-in coat closet.

The leather couch in the living room was beautiful! Perfect for a little reading before bed or watching sports (in Ryan’s case 🙂 ).  There was also a bar area complete with a Keurig machine to make coffee and tea.

My favorite part was the bathroom with the large soaking tub and big windows views facing west for sunset. Perfect for more relaxing after the spa. The bathroom also had the most luxurious amenities. I’m still kicking myself for forgetting our half-used Le Chemin By Byredo shampoo and conditioner bottles! (side note – I usually take the half-empty bottles so I don’t waste the product; do others do that too?)

We didn’t need to work but there was a nice work space and a table to enjoy take out at. Overall, a very relaxing space to simply rejuvenate and reset for the new year!

#3: Convenient location and easy access to great spots to explore downtown

Hotel Ivy is very conveniently located downtown. You can easily book a weekend without taking time off work and still feel like you got away. Once you’ve checked in, you can walk to great restaurants, the Stone Arch Bridge, local coffee shops, and the Walker Art Center / Sculpture Garden (or drive to them in just a few minutes). It’s also easy to get to Northeast Minneapolis, filled with local cideries and breweries to enjoy.

Hotel Ivy also has a popular restaurant right on site so you don’t even need to leave! Monello has a great menu and patio space.

For our Hotel Ivy staycation, we did takeout from Fhima’s, a delicious French Mediterranean restaurant which also has an incredible social mission to feed the community – check them out!

#4: Amazing service

The staff at check-in, the spa, and check-out were all incredibly polite and accommodating.  They made sure we were set with water bottles (chilled or ambient – love the option!), parking (valet is an extra cost or the parking ramp across the street is only $5.50 overnight on the weekends), and were available for any questions we had.  With COVID, they are behind plexiglass at check-in and also put on a new set of disposable gloves to handle our credit card which I appreciated.

The service at the spa was also top notch.  They really made our stay special!

#5: Beautiful gym and wonderful workout classes

We’ve previously visited the gym at Hotel Ivy to attend the fabulous yoga classes offered. Hotel guests are able to join them complimentary! It’s a high-end gym experience with cooling towels, the latest workout machines and small classes – you’ll leave feeling great.
