1. Under 2 hours from the Twin Cities

While many Minnesotans love heading up north to the cabins, it usually entails a 3+ hour long car ride which can be a stressful start to the weekend. The Getaway cabins are about 90 minutes from Minneapolis, and overall less than 2 hours from the Twin Cities. It’s easy to finish the work day, head north on 35 and still enjoy your first night!

2. Efficiently designed and outfitted

The cabins have everything you’ll need for a great weekend away. While they’re tiny, they are very efficiently laid out. The cabins come with a fully-outfitted kitchen, storage for luggage, shower and toilet, dining table, picnic table outside, fire pit to roast s’mores or make meals and a super comfortable queen bed. There are also provisions for a nominal price and they’ll simply add them to your bill when you check out.

3. Immersion into Nature with aesthetic windows

The highlight for me was the massive window next to the bed that faced into nature. I loved just laying in bed and enjoying the view. You can also open the window at the foot of the bed to get fresh nature smells while you relax in bed.

4. Close to other great nature and dining spots

Ice Climbing in Sandstone

The Willow River outpost is perfectly located in nature but not too far from great spots. Within the area, you can enjoy: Amy’s Country Cafe for great breakfasts, Sapsucker Cider for cider and food trucks, Banning State Park for hiking and Sandstone for ice climbing in the winter.

In under an hour you can venture to Duluth and Jay Cooke State Park for more adventures. If you’d like to head even further up the north shore for a day trip from the cabin, check out these 22 stops to make along the way!

Between the cabin and the Twin Cities, stop at Leader in Cambridge for a great lunch or dinner!

5. Reasonably priced

Getaway has a great price point, with most nights in the $100-200 range. We can’t wait to visit again!
