Welcome to Planet with Sara, an award-winning travel blog connecting you to Minnesota, The Midwest and beyond.
I'm a Minnesota-based travel content creator who writes extensive itineraries and creates videos to inspire adventure lovers to travel, try new activities and explore great food spots. Happy planning!
Hey, I'm Sara! I can't wait to help you plan your next trip.
My husband Ryan and I are freelance travel creators, photographers and videographers who now bring the cutest little travel companion on all of our adventures.
Spending time together as a family of 3, whether on a day trip or flying across the world, is how we recharge from our corporate jobs and draw inspiration into our lives.
We've lived in London and Miami in addition to our home state of Minnesota and have perfected the art of balancing local travel with big adventures. Our itineraries are optimized to fit in the best adventures, food spots and cultural experiences.

Where is your favorite travel destination?
Impossible to pick just one! In Minnesota, I love the North Shore and the Iron Range. In the Midwest, I love Baraboo and Bayfield. In the US, I love Utah, Oregon and New England. Globally, I love South Africa and Thailand. And all the other places we've been too!
How do you plan your travel itineraries?
I create our travel itineraries in an Excel spreadsheet and organize everything by category: Flights, Hotels, Transportation, Meals and Activities. I also have a column to show the corresponding spend so we can track both activities and costs.
How are you able to travel so much?
We prioritize spending our time and money on travel as a family. We are very thoughtful with our time off. We use PTO around holidays to extend our time off and make the most of long weekends. We also buy an extra week of work vacation to fit in more travel.
