Madden's on Gull Lake

1. Stunning location on Gull Lake

This might be the most obvious reason but Madden’s is located right a stunning inlet on Gull Lake. Gull Lake is one of the best places to enjoy summer in Minnesota. It’s a big lake so if you have a boat or rent one during your stay, you can have a great day exploring. Even if you don’t go out on a boat, the views of the lake from the west, north and east sides of the inlet are all stunning!

2. Incredible Golf Courses

Madden’s is very well known for its various golf courses, ranging from The Classic, which was rated in America’s Top 100 Greatest Public Courses (#59 in 2019) and given 5 Stars by Golf Digest, to more beginner/intermediate courses like Pine Beach West. We had a great time playing Pine Beach West and spent about 2 hours enjoying the front 9 holes.

3. Delicious (and scenic) on site restaurants

We loved that Madden’s had a variety of on site dining options and were able to try out a few different places during our visit! Our favorites were Mission Point for breakfast (although the lake views are great for dinner too!), Fairway for dinner with views of the golf course, and Parfecto Pizza for lunch. Don’t miss the ice cream shop on site too!

4. Tons of fun activities around the resort

I was blown away by all the activities offered on site and wish we had had more time to enjoy them all! We had a great time doing glow golf at night, relaxing on a pontoon ride, playing giant yard games and doing morning yoga on the deck overlooking the lake. Next time, we’ll also kayak, paddleboard, go down the giant inflatable waterslide in the lake and try trapshooting.

5. The relaxing lakeside spa

The on site spa was a highlight of the weekend for us! We did a 1-hour couples massage which started with chilled lemon water and tea in the waiting room overlooking the lake before heading to the spa cottage where we had side by side massages. Since I’m currently pregnant, they had all the pregnancy pillows set up so I was comfortable and safe during the experience. Highly recommend treating yourself with an experience here!

6. Beautiful rooms with views

All the rooms at Madden’s look like great options and we especially loved the Mission Bay suite we stayed in. We had sweeping views of the lake and it was west facing so could enjoy sunset from our patio. We brought dessert back to our room both nights so we could enjoy it with the great view! I loved that our room had pitched ceilings, a fireplace, a dining table and a spot to relax and enjoy a book.

7. Relaxing beach

The beach at Madden’s is beautiful and so relaxing. They set out recliner chairs on the sand and you can sit back and listen to the sound of the waves while enjoying a beverage of choice. The beach is long with one side being more active with the water rentals and the other side being a little quieter. We both napped on the quieter part of the beach (storing up energy now before baby comes!).
