Local Minnesota Gift Ideas

Free Air Life Co

My favorite outdoor adventure goods shop in Duluth Minnesota is Free Air Life Co. Everything they curate is fun and sustainable. Their brands are hand-selected by Founder Sarah Steinbach not just for the amazing style, feel, and fit but also for the positive impact the brands have on the environment. From clothing to lip balms to camp cocktails and notebooks, the shop will have you well prepared (and looking good) for outdoor adventures.

Northmade Co

Northmade Co. is a very small family-owned Minnesota clothing company and one of my favorite places for Minnesota gear. The owner, Brian Nordin, comes up with all the designs and then works with local artists to make them come alive on the gear. My favorite is the MPLS felt sweatshirt (also available for St. Paul), their new knit hat, super soft t-shirts and glassware.

Northern Toboggan Co.

This company is a Minnesota gem. They handcraft wooden toboggans, sleds and snowshoes. I love their DIY snowshoe kit (finished snowshoes are available too). It’s so special to make your own pair!

Woolly Bear Knits

One of my favorite winter hats is from Woolly Bear Knits. Handcrafted by local artisan Emily, the hats are incredibly warm, soft and made with premium wool. Emily makes adult and kid versions so you can match your mini! This is a recurring item in my Minnesota gift guide since I wear my hat all the time!

Paddle North

We bought inflatable paddle boards in 2020 from local company Paddle North and it quickly become our favorite way to get out on Minnesota lakes. The company recently launched a new version of their Portager that has a kayak seat attachment so it’s the best of both worlds! We can’t wait to get out on the water with the new version next year.

My favorite local nut company, Isadore Nut Co., is named for Tasya’s (the owner) grandfather who treated food as medicine. Tasya sources from sustainable supply chains and supports employment equity to leave the world a better place.

Their matcha starter set would be a great gift! Otherwise, a gift card is a great idea too for someone who would like to experience the magic in person. Check out their upcoming events here too.

There are tons of possibilities and we’ll keep single use plastics out of the trash as a result. Perfect stocking stuffer for the travelers and hikers in your life!

Our favorite food is pizza and we used to make it in the oven weekly. We recently upgraded the experience to a wood fire pizza oven that, once heated up, makes the pizzas within minutes! They taste delicious and the experience is really fun. This would be perfect for someone who loves grilling, making pizza or enjoys fancy camp dinners!

Thuma Bed Accessories

We added a staycation daybed to our home this year from Thuma and they make great accessories that would be fun holiday gifts. The Sleeve is great if you’re short on space but need some place to put your phone, Kindle or laptop at the end of the night. The Underbed Storage bins are high quality recycled PET felt and very spacious.

If you’re looking for a new daybed or bed, Thuma’s only took us about 10 minutes to assemble!

Avocado keeper

Every week we were throwing away avocados that went bad until my parents showed us their avocado keeper. Now we rarely have to throw any away!
