10 Amazing Places to Eat and Drink in Grand Forks ND

Grand Forks has an amazing food and drink scene and we had a blast discovering many gems during our weekend getaway. Read on for our 10 favorite places to eat and drink in Grand Forks.

Harry’s Steakhouse
Harry’s Steakhouse is a classic spot to enjoy dinner in Grand Forks. While a newer restaurant, Harry’s Steakhouse gives homage to the owner’s family’s history of owning a restaurant in the same exact spot in the 1940’s. They’ve create a fun and enchanting atmosphere. Don’t skip the amazing dessert and if you enjoy match, definitely try The Green Mile drink.
The Ember Coffeehouse
The Ember Coffeehouse is a nonprofit, volunteer run coffeehouse which promotes bringing the community together. The drinks are delicious and there are plenty of tables to catch up with friends or enjoy a live music show. They also have a great kids play room.
Ely’s Ivy
Ely’s Ivy is a great spot especially for weekend brunch but also for lunch and dinner. I especially enjoyed eating on the stunning outdoor patio with beautiful ivy growing on the outside wall of the restaurant. I felt like I was in Europe! They’re known for their delicious walleye dishes.
Widman’s Grand Forks
While this spot is specific to candy, Widman’s is a classic spot in Grand Forks, especially to enjoy chippers (chocolate dipped potato chips). They also have other delicious candies including my favorite saltwater taffy.
The Blue Moose
Right across the river in East Grand Forks is The Blue Moose, one of the most popular places to eat and drink in Grand Forks. We loved eating on the outdoor patio but there is extensive indoor seating too. From salads to burgers, to warm soft pretzels and macaroni and cheese, The Blue Moose has so many delicious options.
Bernie’s
I was really excited to try Bernie’s, which recently opened by local farmer Nick Hagen and his wife, Food Network host Molly Yeh. The food options are classic midwestern (think hot dishes and tater tots) and it just feels so cozy inside. They have various seating areas including a study hall space for students, a fun greenhouse, booths and an outdoor patio.
Urban Stampede
An amazing coffee option is Urban Stampede. Located in a historic building, Urban Stampede has so much character in addition to great drinks.
Happy Camper Coffee Cart
The Happy Camper Coffee Cart is a great addition to the Grand Forks dining scene. We loved the acai bowl and delicious seasonal drinks. They post on their social media pages where they’ll be parked each week. We enjoyed visiting them at the Saturday Farmer’s Market.
Half Brothers Brewing Company
Located right in the heart of Grand Forks is Half Brothers Brewing Company. Still relatively new at just 10 years old, Half Brothers Brewing Company is all about the community and the space reflects that. From lots of indoor and patio seating to arcade and board games to soda pop options for non-drinkers, they space is very welcoming. The brews are great too as the team has worked diligently to hone their craft.
Red Peper
In full transparency, we did not have time to visit Red Pepper on our visit, unfortunately. However, this was the number one recommendation I received as it’s a classic spot, especially with the local college community. Next time we’ll for sure grab a grinder and tacos.
