Room & Board Home Office

Living in Minnesota where Room & Board is headquartered, I’ve always loved visiting their in-person show rooms for home design inspiration for projects both big and small. A couple years ago, we redid a corner of our small apartment living room to be a home office with Room & Board and I loved how seamless and organized their products transformed our space to be.

When we moved into our new home with a full room dedicated an office, I knew we could build upon our existing Room & Board pieces to make a beautiful and cohesive space.

While I love using Room & Board’s free virtual consultations for projects, for our home office update I went to their showroom in Edina to meet with one of their amazing designers, Heather. In person consultations are also complimentary and allow you to walk the store to see pieces in person.

In Person Design Session

I made my in-person design appointment online and started saving pieces that caught my eye to my “Favorites” list before meeting with Heather. She reviewed my wish list prior to meeting to see the general theme I was going for.

What I love about working with Room & Board’s designers is they always honor my goals while suggesting new pieces or ways of setting up the room. Heather walked the store with me and helped pick out furniture, fabrics and wood colors and then created a 3D mock up of what the room would look like based on our floorpan. The tools available made everything come to life and I was thrilled with the space even before leaving the store that day!

Delivery Day

I love that Room & Board delivers anywhere in the contiguous US for just $159 including assembly, placement and packaging removal. Every delivery team we’ve worked with has been courteous, efficient and friendly. Our delivery day felt like Christmas morning with the team carefully bringing in all of the items we ordered and putting the room together. Not having to worry about the leftover packaging was a huge perk too!

The Room

We loved seeing our room come to life and how seamlessly our existing pieces fit into it!

Prior Small Home Office (apartment):

From our prior home office, we re-purposed many classic Room & Board pieces including the Hudson Cabinet, Diffrient World Office Chair, Nova Task Lamp and Monitor Riser. The beauty of investing even in one or two lifetime pieces is they can be used in future spaces as your home grows.

New Home Office:

Room & Board Home Office

We expanded our Room & Board home office with more classic pieces:

  • Parsons L-Shaped desk (customizable!) – I always pictured a wood desk but after Heather showed me how great quartz is for a desk top, I was convinced. It’s so beautiful and classic too. Since we both work from home fairly frequently, the L-shaped desk essentially creates two separate workspaces for us.
  • Bria Rug in Mustard – LOVE the color of this rug and how soft it feels
  • Artwork – White Skies – since we’re on calls all day, I wanted a neutral art piece for our background and this one is perfect.
  • Wooden Frames – showcase photography from our travels and is a great background when we’re on video calls facing the other way from the table
  • Cassisus Floor Planter – the classic look is perfect for the office
  • Rayne Floor Lamp – We created a little seating area and this lamp fits perfect behind the chair
  • Otis Swivel Chair – super comfortable chair, perfect for a visitor to the office or for a reading break
  • Nyla End Table – great smaller end table we put next to the Otis Swivel Chair
