A Small Space Home Office Makeover with Room & Board

While the kitchen is often said to be the heart of the home, our living room is a close second. Since we live in a smaller space with our living room doubling as our home office, we have to be efficient. However, design is still very important to us. Since Room & Board is the ultimate in designing stunning spaces both large and small, we were thrilled to partner with them to redesign our home office to integrate seamlessly with our living room. [Fun Fact: did you know Room & Board is headquartered in Minneapolis?!]

The whole process kicked off with a personal design session virtual call with a talented designer named Carlos. I came with ideas and Carlos collaborated with me to think through other options which I loved even more. During the call, he saved products to my cart so that afterwards I could quickly update what we wanted to purchase.

Once our order was placed, we waited a couple weeks for everything to be made, delivered and set up. KJ and Jordan from Room & Board made the whole delivery process fun. They were efficient, friendly and set everything up for us too.

A couple weeks into our new space, we absolutely love how easy it’s been to maintain. Our space has remained organized and beautiful which makes us even happier to work from home. Check out our before and after photos below and links to the products that make up our home office space!

• Hudson File Cabinet – love the warm color and how much storage space is available for files. It includes a file cabinet and room for office equipment like a printer.
• Nadia Carafe – a beautiful vase to hold florals

Kisii Stone Bowl – Made by an artisan in Kenya and supports a living wage. From Room & Board: “Each bowl takes two full days to cut, carve and polish by hand, and the artist’s name is carved into the bottom. The colors and dimensions of every bowl are unique. Artisans working with Ten by Three receive a Prosperity Wage, which is at least 2.5 times the Fair Trade Wage, helping them provide for their families and invest in their own businesses.”

Diffrient World Office Chair – very comfortable, we no longer have back pain after working all day!

Slim C-Table (made locally!) – love being able to move to the couch to work to change things up. It’s also convenient to hold a beverage and snack when watching TV.

Nova Task lamp – beautiful lighting and it turns off when no one is nearby.

Planter in wood stand – I love a pop of greenery. This beautiful stands integrates well with the living room and office.

• Tabletop power & charging outlet – makes it easy to plug in chargers and charge our phones and AirPods while working
• Saco Module – holds small items like paper clips

Surjo lidded basket – a gorgeous hand woven basket made in Bangladesh. From Room & Board: “Using a traditional method, it takes about 12 days to weave one basket, which reflects the unique style and artistry of the weaver. Artisans receive a Prosperity Wage, which is at least 2.5 times the Fair Trade Wage, helping them provide for their families and invest in their own businesses. Every basket includes a tag with a photo and short biography of the artist, plus a unique code to learn more about that person.”

Callahan desk set in felt grey – love the neutral color and felt material. I can now easily glide the mouse.

• Monitor Riser – love the stand to put the monitor at eye level which also enables extra storage beneath it.
• Bend Tray with handles – great storage tray beneath the monitor riser.
• Laptop Riser – Very handy to put our laptop next to the big monitor.
