With Mother’s Day coming up, I wanted to share some of my favorite local ideas. There are so many fun, unique gifts you can give this Mother’s Day in Minnesota that support the local community. Whether you’ll be celebrating in person or from afar, I hope this list of both items and experiences provides a new idea for you to celebrate your mom or other special person in your life!

1. Gift a beautiful Faribault Woolen Mill blanket

For the mom who loves cabin time, picnics and hygge

We recently had the chance to visit the historic mill in Faribault and it was incredible seeing the high-quality blankets made from start to finish! FWMC just opened a new store in Excelsior so you can pick up a blanket (or other accessory) in person just in time for summer visits to the cabin or picnics in the park!

For even more fun, attend their Excelsior store Grand Opening Weekend Thursday 4/29 – Sunday 5/2. There’s a “Meet the CEO” event from 5-7pm on 4/29!

2. Buy Eco-Friendly Outdoor Gear + Accessories from Free Air Life Co

For the adventure mom who loves nature, sustainability, and comfortable clothing + cute accessories for exploring

I recently visited Free Air Life Co. (which is woman-owned!) on a trip to Duluth and wanted to buy everything in the store! I admire their curation of brands that support the environment and anything they sell would make a great gift.

3. Attend a Sip ‘n Bloom Floral Workshop

For the creative mom who loves fresh flowers

The owner, David, makes the floral workshops so fun and you’re sure to leave with a brilliant arrangement. Check out their upcoming classes on Sip ‘n Bloom’s website directly.

4. Enjoy Afternoon Tea at Prelude (Westin Edina)

For the international mom who is missing London!

We recently attended an afternoon tea in the lobby of The Westin Edina Galleria at Prelude and it brought us back to our time living in London! It was very well done and is very reasonably priced. Perfect afternoon activity to celebrate your mom. Make a reservation here.

5. Indulge in a Staycation at Hotel Ivy + Anda Spa

For the spa-loving mom who deserves some relaxation

Last winter we did a staycation at Hotel Ivy and visited the Anda Spa which was incredible!  From the spa service to soaking in the hot tub and sitting in the sauna, this would make the most relaxing Mother’s day gift. Sign up for a spa service here.

6. Go on a Paddleboard Adventure

For the mom who loves being on the water

Minnesota has many great spots to paddleboard for the day! Check out my guide here which also has rental details.

7. Bike around the Twin Cities

9. Buy a Special Cake

For the mom with a sweet tooth

For a really special dessert on Mother’s Day, check out one of these favorite local specialty cake makers: Bellecour for Crepe Cake, Cheesecake Funk for any flavor Cheesecake and The Salted Cake for a beautiful cake or cupcakes.

10. Support Local Creators with a Gift Box

11. Take a Yoga Class at a Local Cidery

For the yogi mom who also loves cider

Milk & Honey Cider in St. Joseph Minnesota is one of my favorite local cideries plus they do yoga classes outdoors on Saturdays! Sign up for a class and then toast to your mom afterwards with cider!

I hope you find a great way to celebrate your mom or another special person in your life this Mother’s Day in Minnesota!
